Baseball Illustration Project
The client was looking for lighthearted hand-drawn illustrations about baseball for a children’s book primarily aimed at younger audiences, but would still be engaging for older readers as well.
They specifically wanted the illustrations to focus on character relationships and smaller, micro-moments related to baseball instead of the typical “home-run” image.
I came up with several color palette options and presented my initial ideas and sketches to the client. The client liked the blue and pink limited color palette and having lots of white space on the page without the use of backgrounds.
Conclusion
The client was very pleased with the illustrations. The children’s book is still in the final stages of the development process but will be submitted to literary agents soon.
I enjoyed the storytelling aspect of this project as well as the sketching process, where I was able to think through several iterations and ideas in order to find the best option for the client.
